This in one of my ...and So On's...
This is the reason why I have not sewed in a few weeks. This and our summer travels.
This is a dream come true for me and I have to say, I'm pretty darn pleased with it!!
No, not the quilt
THE BED!!
I built the bed!!
(I did make the quilt though, and the pillows, a few years ago. That's another post for another day.)
I found the plans on Knock-Off Wood and followed Ana's instructions.
And $150 and three sanders later.... wha-la!
The story (in short): I have been saving my pennies for years for a nice bedroom set and I'm still far off my goal. Then I came across Knock-Off Wood and stars started dancing around me and I knew I had found it.
It all went together nicely. We wore out our own sander and then borrowed another which we promptly burned up and then we borrowed a bigger one which finished the job. We now know what kind of sander we want when we go buy a new one. ;)
Now check out this and notice the price for the bed.

I love the arched headboard!
My next furniture project is night stands...
Stay Tuned!!

love love love the bed...I think I need to find time to do one. How in heavens name do you find time to do all of your projects? Which night stands are you doing? How hard was it really? Love ya girl!
It is fabulous! Way to go!
That is so amazing!! I am so glad you got it done and that you could get it so soon. Next time I think I may go that route.
Great job! Soo, you want to come visit us?? We still don't have a proper bed (or a dresser, or nightstands)...
I have been dieing for a "proper bedroom set" and can never bring myself to put it at the top of the list. You have inspired me. I'll have to check out that web site. I love your bed and even want a black on, but Todd likes to hang his feet off the end. I'll have to see what ideas they have that will work. You are AMAZING! Do you take orders!
Yep, I saw the quilt and thought "That's a really cool quilt but it looks familiar..." then I scrolled down a bit and BAM!! The BED!? That thing is nice!
That is so beautiful and amazing! I have to admit the headboard is what caught my eye in the first picture, and I thought, "Wow, that is a beautiful bed." And then to find out you made it?!?! You are so talented!
WOW...just WOW...!! You did such an amazing job!! I guess when you really want something, you will put forth the effort to make it truly great!! LOVE IT!!
You SHOULD be so proud of it! It's gorgeous! And I finally have encouraged (or nagged enough) to get Forrest to start building our benches. Yay! Only problem is he went over to Adam's to do it. I wanted him to SHOW me how to use the tools so that I can build my own benches, tables, headboards, yeah, I'd go crazy with projects on the to do list...
Looks awesome, you did a great job!
I love the bed!! It looks even better in person. Good for you!! Keep up the good work. I also have read your whole blog, what a great adventure. Can't wait to read more.
I'm super impressed! It looks great.
That looks really great. :D
